Q. How many times a week does the Hiram Bingham run?
A. Hiram Bingham runs every day, except for Sundays.

Q. How much does a journey on the Hiram Bingham cost?
The round trip price for the Hiram Bingham is US$588

Q. What is included in the fare? 
A. The Hiram Bingham package includes the train journey from Cusco (Poroy) to Machu Picchu, welcome drinks, water, tea, coffee and an excellent wine selection, brunch on out-bound journey, musical entertainment on board, professional tour guide for every 15 passengers, access to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu, exclusive transport to and from Machu Picchu, afternoon tea served at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, cocktails and dinner on return journey. 

Q. Is the timetable defined? 
A. Yes, the timetable of the Hiram Bingham is as follows -

09.00 Departure from Poroy Station (15 minutes drive from Cuzco)
12.30 Arrival at Machu Picchu Station.  Transfer by bus to Macchu Picchu
13.00 Tour of the Ruins
15.30 Afternoon English Tea Buffet at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, located at the entrance of the ruins
16.30 Those who wish to may return to the ruins
17.45 Meet at the entrance of the ruins to take the bus back to Machu Picchu train station
18.00 Train departs to Cusco.  Cocktails and dinner served on board
 
Q. Are there various menu options available?
A. Yes, there are different options available, allowing each passenger to select their preference. 

Q. Do you offer a vegetarian option?
A. Yes, we offer a vegetarian menu.

Q. Where are the pre-dinner cocktails served?
A. Cocktails will be served in the Bar Car if the train is not full, otherwise they will be served in the Dining Cars.

Q. Is the Afternoon Tea private to Hiram Bingham passengers? 
A. Yes, one of the restaurants at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge has being allocated for this purpose. 

Q. If passengers prefer to stay at the Inca remains instead of having Afternoon Tea, will the tour guide stay with them? 
A. No, the guide will go to the Afternoon Tea at the Sanctuary Lodge and will arrange a meeting point for those passengers who decide to stay in the Machu Picchu citadel.

Q. Is there a discount for passengers who do not want to take services included in the Hiram Bingham package? 
A. No, unfortunately we cannot offer a discount.

Q. Are there tour guides on-board for non-English speaking passengers?
A. All tours are provided in English and Spanish.  However, for groups of 15 or more we can offer the tour in the language that you require (French, German, Italian and Japanese).  Please make arrangements with PeruRail in advance.

Q. Is the bus to and from Machu Picchu private to Hiram Bingham passengers? 
A. Yes

Q. Is it possible to stay overnight at Machu Picchu?
A. Yes, however, the return journey is subject to availability.  The Hiram Bingham package includes an entrance ticket to the Machu Picchu remains, and these must be used on the first day.  Any extra costs on the second day for entrances, bus rides etc are at the passengers own expense.

Q. Will the Hiram Bingham depart earlier for passengers who stay overnight at Machu Picchu? 
A. No, however, passengers who want to arrive back to Cusco earlier have the option of boarding another PeruRail service.  Unfortunately, no discount is available on the Hiram Bingham rate.  Passengers can combine the Hiram Bingham with another service on the way back with the same Hiram Bingham rate.

Q. How do you transport passenger luggage? 
A. There is no special coach for luggage, so we suggest that passengers bring only items which are necessary for a day trip.  An elegant Hiram Bingham travel bag will be provided for our passengers.  

Q. Is the Hiram Bingham available for charter?
A. We always do our best to attend to our customer’s needs and the service will usually be available upon request.

Q. Do Tour Guides travel for free? 
A. Unfortunately, due to limited space, tour guides cannot travel for free.   

Q. What is the cost for tour guides travelling on the Hiram Bingham? 
A. Tour Guides have to pay the full cost.  However, there is the option to take an earlier PeruRail service to Machu Picchu, arriving before the Hiram Bingham.   

Q. Do you offer any complimentary tickets for a particular number sold?
A. Unfortunately we cannot offer any complimentary tickets.

Q. Is there a different timetable for Charters?
A. The timetable for charters will be arranged in coordination with PeruRail on an individual basis for each group, according to each group’s needs and the safety regulations of the government and PeruRail. 

Q. Can you offer a special menu for charters?
A. Yes. We have different options available.

Q. Can you offer additional services for groups chartering the Hiram Bingham? 
A. Yes, we can offer a special programme, depending on your requirements.
