A Luscious Experience

Eleven days discovering the highlights of Peru. Cusco, The Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and the Lake Titicaca are all visited as part of this amazing trip.

During the trip you will travel on the best of Perurails Trains.  The Vistadome will escort you to Machu Picchu, you will journey from Machu Picchu to Cusco on the luxurious Hiram Bingham Train and you will also voyage on the Andean Explorer Train to Puno.

SUMMARY

Day 1

Upon arrival, transfer to the Miraflores Park Hotel, located in Miraflores, a residential area with incredible ocean views.  Spend the rest of the day at leisure.  Overnight in a wonderful executive ocean view suite. 

Day 2

Transfer to the airport, where you will take a flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Hotel Monasterio, the hallowed colonial San Antonio Abad Seminary, built more than 300 years ago, where you will be welcomed with a comforting cup of hot coca tea.   Then continue to the Sacred Valley where you will have the choice of staying at either the Sol y Luna or the Casa Andina Private Collection hotel for two nights.  You will enjoy daily breakfast, lunch and dinner at your hotel.  Either one of these exclusive hotels is the perfect place to discover the Sacred Valley and its wonders. On the first day, rejoice in a fascinating visit to the city of Ollantaytambo, the only town in the earth of the Incas where the time took a rest. Afternoon free to discover the valley on your own. Dinner served at the hotel.

Day 3

On your third day you will visit the city of Chincheros, a small Indian village located high up on the windswept plains of Anta at 3762 meters about 30kms from Cusco. There are beautiful views overlooking the sacred valley of the Incas. On the way back lunch will be offered at the Huayocari House. Afternoon at your leisure.

Day 4

Early morning, a transfer is provided from the Casa Andina or Sol y Luna Hotel to the Monasterio Hotel. After lunch you will have a private tour of the city of Cuzco. You will be delighted by the cathedral, churches, and the amazing ancient neighborhood of San Blas. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure to discover the outstanding city of Cusco.

Day 5

Transfer will be arranged to the Poroy train station to travel to the Inka trail’s Entrance Point via the Vistadome train.  The train will arrive at kilometre 104 where you will embark on a six-hour walk to Machu Picchu.  This is a taste of what the entire Inca Trail is like; a journey that will impress you with the intellectual and spiritual grandeur of the Inca civilization.  There will have a hiker’s lunch en route.  On the way you will discover the enigmatic ruins of Wiñay Wayna.  Upon arrival, check-in for a one-night stay at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, located in a privileged area right at the entrance to this magnificent site.  There will follow a two-hour tour around one of the most outstanding archaeological wonders of the world. Upon returning to the hotel enjoy an exquisite afternoon "English style tea" with an assortment of fresh and hot drinks, petit fours and mini snacks.  

Day 6

Bask in a magnificent dawn from your advantageous location; then explore Machu Picchu at your leisure. In the afternoon relish lunch at the Tampu Restaurant prior to your transfer to Aguas Calientes to travel back to Cusco via the elegant Hiram Bingham train.  Indulge in a sophisticated gourmet dinner on board.  Upon arrival at Poroy, a private transfer awaits to take you back to the Monasterio Hotel for a two night stay in a deluxe oxygen-enriched room.

Day 7

After breakfast, you will take a private transfer to proceed to the south side of the Valley to visit Tipon, Pikillacta and Andahuaylillas.   Tipon is a significant Inca archaeological site located 23 kilometers (14 miles) southeast of Cusco and made up of large terraces. From there, you will continue on to visit the town of Andahuaylillas with its Colonial Church.  Finally, there will be a visit to Piquillacta, an Inca archaeological site located 38 kilometres (23.6 miles) southeast of Cusco, which has the remains of a city that once occupied an area of 50 hectares. There are large buildings at this site, some of two floors, embankments, aqueducts and great walls that reach up to 7 meters in height.  Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Valley. This evening spend your time at leisure.

Day 8

Early morning transfer to Wanchaq station to take the fabulous Andean Explorer train to Puno. Wonder at   the marvellous landscape on the trip to Puno. Overnight at Casa Andina Private Collection Hotel on the shores of Lake Titicaca where you will feast on a delicious typical dinner.

Day 9

Overnight at Suasi Island, arriving there in a speed boat after visiting the Uros and Taquille Islands. You will enjoy all of your meals at the Hotel and bask in the extraordinary sunset in Lake Titicaca.   Relax with the evening at leisure.

Day 10

Return to the Juliaca’s airport in a 4 x 4 jeep from Suasi Island. Board the plane back to Lima and transfer to the Miraflores Park Hotel. Overnight in a beautiful ocean view suite.  Stroll outside the hotel and visit the parks and nearby shopping centre. Relax with a 25 minutes massage or indulge in a soothing Bath butler.

Day 11

After breakfast, spend the morning touring downtown Lima, also known as "The City of Kings", and   since 1991 considered a World Heritage Site for its magnificent colonial architecture. Thereafter enjoy a visit to Larco Herrera Museum; extraordinary gatherings of pre-Columbian art object, and have lunch there. Later, take a private transfer to Lima's International Airport to embark on your journey home.
