The 600-acre Keswick Estate provides the ideal setting for Keswick Hall and Keswick Club, offering spectacular views and beautiful landscapes. The four season resort offers an extensive offering of recreational amenities, including guest access to the renowned Keswick Club, recognized as one of the finest private clubs in Central Virginia since 1948. Combined with luxurious accommodations in the intimate setting of the 48-room Keswick Hall, warm and genuine service, and gracious dining, guests are made to feel as if they are visiting a country estate.
Located in the heart of Virginia’s wine and hunt country, the estate is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Charlottesville is just 20 minutes away and is home to the University of Virginia and a thriving downtown community featuring unique restaurants, shopping and cultural opportunities. Thomas Jefferson's Monticello is 5 minutes away and a variety of award-winning wineries are within an easy driving distance.
Delta, United Express, US Airways, Colgan Air and Continental serve the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO). Piedmont Aviation Service, adjacent to the airport, is available for private planes and jets. Keswick Hall offers a private helipad.
By car, Keswick Hall is approximately1 hour from Richmond, 2 hours from Washington and 2.5 hours from Baltimore.
Each of Keswick Hall’s 48 guest rooms is subtly themed and features antiques and linens and fabrics in heirloom patterns. Facing formal gardens at the front and the golf course and lush rolling fields at the back, each room features antique furnishings, custom carpets, luxurious bed and bath linens, hand-painted armoires, personal collectables and a rich, residential feel.
Generously sized bathrooms feature separate, glass-enclosed showers, oversized or claw footed tubs, antique porcelain bathroom sets, heated towel racks, hair-dryers, and a selection of bath amenities, including herbal bath salts, hair treatments and body lotions.
In keeping with the grandest and most authentic estates, the public rooms at Keswick Hall are inviting and filled with period inspired furnishings and art that tell the story of the original home, Villa Crawford circa 1912. Roaring fireplaces create a welcoming environment for a game of snooker, an evening cocktail or an afternoon of reading from the Inn’s library of books written by Virginians or about Virginia.
The Great Hall is the main lobby of the resort with the two wings of the inn branching to either side. Guests may relax by the fire, plan their day with the Concierge or gather with friends and family before dining in Fossett’s Restaurant or venturing off for their next activity.
Opened in June 2004, Keswick Hall’s signature restaurant features expansive floor to ceiling windows with spectacular views of the estate’s pristine landscape and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The interior, designed to be warm and refreshing, is accented with historical Virginia artwork and custom designed furniture. During the mild weather months, Fossett’s offers al fresco terrace seating overlooking the rolling fairways of the estate’s golf course.
Fossett’s is named in honor of Thomas Jefferson’s chief cook, Edith Fossett (1787-1854). Mrs. Fossett held one of the most responsible positions in Jefferson’s household during his retirement years. Mrs. Fossett learned the art of French cooking from Honore Julien, Head Chef, and Etienne Lemaire, the maitre de hotel, while serving in the White House during Jefferson’s presidential years.
The restaurant offers a farm-to-table menu that is approachable, contemporary, and innovative. Fossett’s is open seven days a week for breakfast and dinner. Reservations are suggested and smart casual attire is recommended for dinner.
Located adjacent to the restaurant, the bar features specialty and signature drinks, terrace and fireside seating, and a varied and inspired bar menu.
The Palmer Room
Located only steps from Keswick Hall, The Palmer Room at Keswick Club offers casual dining for guests of the inn. With seating for just 50 guests, it provides a cozy setting with expansive views of the golf course for lunch and dinner. Entrees showcase local produce and seafood.
